Jason & Bekki's Halloween

Jason & Bekki got dressed up for Halloween. They partied as "Muscle Man & Muscle Woman". It looks like they had fun!

Jen's Halloween

While I was celebrating my birthday in Fargo. Jen and her friend Kerry were celebrating at a Military Ball in Alexandra. It sounds like they had a lot of fun. This is the second year that they attended this event. Kerry is a Marine. He will be going to Iraq in a few weeks.

My 56th Birthday

What a day! I'm so blessed. Everyone remembers my birthday because it falls on Halloween. The kids on the bus know that I like chocolate. You can imagine how much candy I got today.

One of the girls on the school bus baked me chocolate brownies. One of the boys brought me a bag of chocolate candy and cookies.

My co-workers in the kitchen brought cookies and a card.

My co-workers in the bus barn brought lemon cake and a card.

I got a package in the mail containing an assortment of stuff from Linda in St. Louis.

All of the elementary kids sang Happy Birthday to me. (Thanks Jodi...I' get back at you for that one.)

I got emails, txt messages and phone calls from old friends.

My husband took me out to eat. Dave and my kids gave me money to put towards the netbook that I want.

Friday, Halloween, Payday, great Friends that remembered my Birthday!....What more could I ask for in one day?!! Thanks everyone!

LOWER Gas Prices!

Wow!  Gas prices are down to $2.29 per gallon and I had
 a 19 cents off coupon.
Today I only paid $2.10 per gallon for gas!! Wow!

Old Pictures

My mom and Sierra came over today. Mom brought with her some old photo albums. We spent the afternoon scanning pictures of me as a baby and a toddler. The pictures were fun to look at but boy does that take time to scan so many snap shots! We only finished half the album.

Here is a picture taken of my mom and dad and me at the age of 23 months. I was an only child for three years.

Bunco!

We had a fun evening at Loraine's house. As usual, there was a lot of laughing and yelling going on. No we were not drinking....it just looked that way. Here are the big winners of the evening: (for some reason, tonight every time I try to upload a picture here, the computer freezes up. )

Vern Bancroft turns 80

My mom and I went to Vern's 80th birthday celebration. I have fond memories of Vern and his wife, Liz, from the lake. A bunch of us took long daily walks together. We also went on Volksmarches. Have you heard of Volksmarches? They are 10 km marked hikes with points of interest along the way. Vern has long legs and long strides. It was hard to keep up with him.

Vern always has a smile too. He's just an all around nice guy! Happy Birthday Vern!

Gas Prices

Gas prices keep dropping and dropping! I love it!
$2.47 a gallon

Happy Halloween!

I was trying out a new-to-me photo editing program called "Picnik".
Check out what I made:

Fall Leaves

The leaves are so beautiful this time of the year. I've been taking a few pictures so that I can decorate my computer with new wallpaper. Here are a few of the pics that I've taken:

Spiced Apple Sauce

A friend just passed on this wonderful recipe. You've got to try it...especially if you are like me and have lots of apples right now. It's applesauce made in the crockpot.

Spiced Apple Sauce

12 Cups pared, cored, sliced cooking apples

1/2 Cup Sugar

1/2 Cup cinnamon
1 Cup water
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
freshly grated nutmeg, optional

Put apples in a slow cooker. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Mix with apples. Stir in water and lemon juice, and nutmeg, if desired. Cover. Cook on low 5-7 hours, or high 2 1/2-3 1/2 hours. Stir for a chunky sauce. if you like a smoother sauce, just keep cooking it. I usually freeze this in plastic containers.

Bob's 53rd Birthday

We got together to celebrate my brother's birthday. He's now 53! I arrived at the party late. When I saw that everyone was already eating cake I asked if anyone got a picture first. hm-m-m Guess not. So I took one anyway. (Have they not learned what I've taught them?!!) LOL

School Pictures

It's that time again. School pictures. Yes, adults had to have their pictures taken too. Here are us gals from the kitchen. Please note, I told the gals if they didn't give me one of the professional pics, that I'd post some non-professional ones. ha ha (Sometimes threats work and sometimes they don't.)

Next on the agenda ... threaten my fellow bus drivers......

T & T Cafe

On Tuesday evening I joined a bunch of other women at our church at the T&T Cafe. T&T stands for Truth and Transformation.....connecting women's hearts. It was a special night because there was a special speaker, Christa St. John. Christa's husband just joined our church as the new pastor. Of course all of us wanted to meet Christa. She's very nice and has a great sense of humor. She spoke on "A Place to Call Home." They just moved here from Texas. If that isn't a culture shock! A weather shock! I hope she likes it here.

A Good Weekend

I had a good weekend. Dave is on a hunting trip so I spent the weekend with my daughter, Jen and my mom. I worked on my mom's computer. We went out to eat a couple times. Jen and I had our hair cut and colored. I had highlites also. We did some shopping and went to church together. We were busy. The blessings: the hair cuts and computer tweeking were sucessful. We ate out a lot and I still lost two pounds, we shopped and I still have money left over. Not to mention all the great bonding time we had. It was a very good weekend!

Jen's New Apartment

To save money, Jen moved out of her two bedroom apartment into a smaller one bedroom apartment. This apartment building is in an older part of town that has well kept old buildings, that have a lot of history. While taking this picture, a resident walked by and told us that this apartment building was one of Fargo's original "Cat Houses." Hm-m-m. That would explain all the small one bedroom apartments.

Hunting Trip

Dave and Craig took off on a two week hunting trip to the Medora area. They have been planning this trip all summer. They purchased a tent that would fit the whole town of Kindred in it. They have have a separate large cook tent. They had to get a trailer big enough to fit everything. (Dave's pickup wasn't quite large enough.)Can you see the new trailer? It matches the truck. In case you are wondering, this time they are hunting deer, antelope, grouse and pheasants. The first hunting trip that Dave went on this fall was a week long trip to Montana hunting antelope.

PS...(I now have a few pictures taken of their hunting camp. Check them out at http://tinyurl.com/5ts2z3 )
