A Year in Pictures - 2010

 JANUARY 2010
On January15th Dave and I went to the CCEC employee recognition Banquet.
Here is a picture of Dave with his award.

Dave's Dad's health was failing which prompted Rick & Liz to come up to ND.
Here we are at Lorie & Brent's house having dinner:
Our bookclub met on January 20th at Dunn Brother's coffee shop:
Here's a picture of our daughter, Jamie. Doesn't she look content and happy?
Here is my granddaughter, Sierra.  Guess how old she is. (Isn't she precious?)

FEBRUARY 2010

Dave's Dad died on Valentine's Day.
This picture was snapped 1/2 hr before he died. Most of the family was  home at the time.
Many of the cousins got together at Fargo Billiards.
Here is Rick, Shaun, Jenny, Lindsey, Kerry, Anne & Joe, Jason & Bekki, Ryan & Jamie
This picture of our kids was taken at the funeral.

MARCH 2010

Grover Cousins-Nite-Out at the Frying Pan.
Last December we had all gotten together at a funeral. Someone commented that it was sad that the only time we see each other is at funerals. We decided to change it. Now we're getting together the first Wednesday of every month.  It's fun!
Pictured here is Gerry, Mari, Dula, Carrie, Ros, Edie Tom, John, Jenny, Ron and Illa

Dave bought his dad's Tahoe and he sold his pickup to his brother, Rick.
Our Bunco group gets together on the third Monday of every month. We  have a lot of fun.
This picture is of Nancy, Lavonne and Marilyn.
Fire in Kindred! Craig Roe was working in his cabinet shop when a spark ignited and the place burst into flames. Craig barely escaped. The shop and the two apartments upstairs were a total loss.
Jamie & Ryan used to live in one of those apartments a few years back. (Many memories)
Again this year we fought the flood. This picture was snapped through the wind shield of my school bus.
You are looking south at the St. Benedict Church.
We had some warm days in March...... warm enough to start the grill.  Yum!

On the Saturdays that I don't work, Mom and I like to go to lunch.
Each time we try to find a restaurant that we haven't been to before. This time we went to JalapeƱos.
Our son, Jason, blew out his knee while snowboarding in Colorado.
He ended up needing a couple surgeries. Ouch!
Jen, Matt and Adam moved into a new apartment together. The apartment (3 level townhouse) is beautiful. It is brand new, has three bedrooms and three baths. The kitchen has granite counter tops and they have a deck.  It's nice!
I went on an all-expenses paid trip to the ESP Conference in Las Vegas. I had a good time. I was surprised to find the weather cold (50 degrees) and windy. (Not as nice as when I was there when Jamie & Ryan got married) We spent most of our time indoors. Of course the temps returned to the 80's while I was boarding the plane to fly home. ha ha
We celebrated Shirley Lee's 70th birthday in the Walcott bar. There was a big turn out. Everyone loves Shirley. I can't believe that she's 70! She has so much energy and moves around like a teenager!
One March day I visited Sierra at her school. We had lunch together.
It was fun to see Sierra and for me to check out my old grade school.  It's funny how the school  has shrunk. ha ha
We didn't eat hot lunch at school when I was going up. We all went home to eat. Times have changed.

Our book club meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month.
This is a picture of Verna & Debbie at the Daily Grind.

APRIL 2010

Chef Matt cooked us Easter dinner. It was so good. Dave loves the idea that Jenny chose a man who likes to cook as much as he does.  Dave & Matt have a lot in common.

Bunco at LaVonne's house

Here were are celebrating Barb Rude's 60th birthday.

Jenny turned 23 on April 4th

May 2010

Jenny and I went to the Kutless/Dave Lubben concert. when you look at this picture, it's hard to believe that this is the sanctuary of our church. I really enjoyed the concert. I think Jenny went just to please me.

This is our Bible study group.  We've been together for many years. We meet at my house every Wednesday morning. I have learned so much from our studies!

Here's our book club again. I really should keep track of which books that we've read so that I can share that info with you.  I can't even remember what coffee shop this is. Hmmmm.

Here are my relatives on the Grover side of the family again. It's cousins-nite-out at the Frying Pan. I love these guys!
My mom with her broken wrist and her birthday day cake.
Happy 84th Birthday Mom!

Check out the fruit arrangement that I received from my kids on Mother's Day! Nice!

Yes, snow in May.... in Colorado.  Pretty isn't it?

We are so proud of Jason! Graduating from Denver Seminary with a master's degree in counseling!

Bowling at a very fancy (and fun) bowling alley in Denver.

Rockies Game

Memorial Weekend at the Lake.
My brother, Bob, and his family bought a boat.
We've been seeing a lot more of them now.
It's all good!

Sierra helped Mom and I put flowers on the graves on a windy Memorial Day.

June 2010

Sierra and I went to see toy Story 3 in 3D. As you can tell, we had fun! Do you like our 3D glasses

Bekki stayed with us while Jason was at Boy's State. We took her out to lunch at Chilies.
In the picture is Matt & Jenny, Me, Bekki, Sierra, Jamie & Ryan

Mom and I had coffee with Don & Marian DeJong.
Don & Marian used to be our next door neighbors at the lake.

Here's Dave with two of our kids, Jenny and Jason, on Father's Day. Where's Jamie?
Well... I was a little late on taking this picture and she had already left. Sorry about that.

Here's the Grover clan again.....enjoying Cousins-Nite-Out this time at the Frying Pan in Moorhead instead of Fargo. (I didn't even know there were two Frying Pans.)

Ta Da!  Home made pizzas!

We had to take Bekki to a Red Hawks game.... after all they took us to a Rockies game!

Debbie, Jodi, Me and Connie
Working the school board election. What? You say we look board? Ahhh Come on now. Not being able to leave the building for 14 hrs straight wouldn't have anything to do with it.....

Making smores in the back yard..... with monster marsh mellows.

Sierra's T-Ball Team

Our kids: Jason, Jamie and Jenny
I think I'll frame this picture. It's rare that the three of them are together
and I remember to take a picture of just them.

July 2010

On the 4th of July, every year we take a group picture of everyone that is at our cottage.
It's fun to compare pictures from one year to the next. were you there? Can you find yourself?

This year we (and a zillion other boats) watched the fireworks from the lakeside.

Here are those DuBord kids again: Dave, Rick, Lorie and Kerry
Where's Dean? He missed the last picture too. (February)

Fargo Street Fair with Jamie, Sierra and Lily
Yah... we had fun!

On our way to the Peace Gardens, Mike and Dave had to stop and do some fishing.
Surprised? Nah

The R&R Ranch
A favorite hang out of the Ness's

Swimming Lessons for Sierra

Girl's weekend at Donna Odegaard's cottage. Did I call their place a cottage.... more like summer home. we had fun. We had a Spanish theme this year. (Our menu and homemade Sangrias)
We ate, drank and went cruising in Donna's pontoon.
We even took a dip in the water. Fun girls, fun weekend!

August 2010

This was our annual beach potluck. Thanks to Lucy who puts it all together every year!

It's that Grover clan again, celebrating cousins-Nite-Out

A place in MN that used to be Christmas World is now called the Evergreens.
This is just one of the fun things to do there.

Having lunch with Lynne, Jodi and Sierra at Hodonettes in Lisbon.

Happy 28th Birthday, Jamie!

Sierra and her friends had fun at Kindred Days!

Mom and I..... do we look alike?

All my kids were together in Colorado (without me)

The newly engaged couple......welcome to the family, Matt!

Sierra in the Kindred Days parade.

Every year I visit Summer Hill Farm. Mom and Sierra came with me, again, this year.

September 2010

Yvonne, Carol, Phyllis, Marilyn
Here we are playing Bunco again.  This time we're at Shirley Lee's home.

Here's Debbie err, La Ditzy, at the Fort Ransom Craft weekend. Dave came with me this year. We didn't buy much but we ran into people that we know including my long lost cousin, Stanley Blom, from Kathryn ND.

Sue, Lynn, Me, Curt and Lynne
We all went to an ESP conference in Jamestown. NDEA things are always enlightening and fun!

Check it out! Janelle is 50!
Happy birthday Janelle!

I took this picture on Labor Day weekend. I could have posted pics of the guys taking out the docks,
but this is more precious. Sierra cuddling up to her mom's pregnant belly.  Ahhhh

Do boys ever grow up? This is a picture of my two brothers.... ages 55 and 47.

Some parts of Kindred got new sidewalks this year. Sadly not our neighborhood.  Maybe next time.

Good-bye Cottage.  See you next year.

October 2010

My mom and my cousin, Bubby (Bob)
Bubby lives in Winona, MN. I wish I knew him better.
He just retired from having an awesome job as an IT at Winonia College.
I would love to learn some the techie stuff that he knows.
Too bad he's not a "talker". I could sit and listen to him talk about his job for hours.

Did you see this? Bras on Broadway.  Apparently it's something to with Breast Cancer Awareness.

Here we are. The cooks in the kitchen on Halloween. Scarey, aren't we?

This is a picture snapped of Dave and I at the Hamry wedding reception.

Having lunch with Jamie.

Having lunch with Jenny at Fridays.

Having lunch with Lynne McMannas in Bismarck.

Having lunch with Mom at Classic Subs.

Dave's mom, Addie's new home.  Dave's brother Dean, took Addie out to lunch.  While they were gone, we removed her bed and some of her belongings and moved them into her new home... the Evergreens
(memory Care Unit). She was told about the move.
We thought that it would be easier if she wasn't around while we did it.

My co-workers brought this birthday cake to work for me.  Yum!

We celebrated Nick's, our nephew, 30th birthday at the Fargo Billiards.
This is a pic of Nick and his sister, Lindsey.

I always have so much fun at the Women's Showcase.
This year Mom's friend, Norma Flore, came along with us.

November 2010

Here are the Grovers again!
Mari, Dula, Amy, Edie, Carrie, Ros, Me, Jenny, Matt, John, and Gerry

Jamie had a good idea. She suggested that we start getting together on Wednesday evenings for Family Game Night.  I love the idea! Granted I have to give up my bookclub, but I love being with our family! Next year Jamie and Ryan may be living in Colorado.  I've got to see them every chance I get.

Phyllis, Shirley and Janet
Bunco again.  This time at my house.

This year Mom and I went to THREE holiday home tours. This picture was taken at the El Zagal  tour.

This tour was the BIG one. The Fargo Homes for the Holiday tour.

This was Mom, Lorie, Jodi and Me at the Kindred Holiday Home tour.

Lynn Braaten got a few of us together to make Lefse in the school kitchen.
What fun! I hope it becomes a yearly tradition!

Jenny, Jamie and I met with a wedding counselor. (at Starbucks) She had a lot of great (expensive) ideas.

Here is the 22# turkey that Dave made for a Thanksgiving dinner that no one showed up for. Jen and Matt went to Matt's family's house. The weather looked threatening so pregnant Jamie and Ryan fixed their own Thanksgiving dinner safely at their own house. We still have leftover turkey (in the freezer).

December 2010

Ta Da!
When the kids were growning up we had a tradition that when the Christmas tree was completely decorated we would take a "Ta Da" picture. This is the 2010 Ta Da picture.
On Family Game Night, instead of playing games we put up the Christmas tree. It was fun to listen to Jenny and Jamie talk about the different ornaments. Sierra and I put the ornaments on the tree. What do you think of her fancy glasses. They even "sing" the Happy Birthday song. I found them in a little store in downtown Fargo.   I let Sierra test drive them for the evening ... even though her birthday is a month away.

Rick, Liz and Shawn DuBord came up for a weekend visit. We went to Evergreens and visited Addie.
I took pictures and this is the only one that Addie smiled on. (She looked at me strange like she thought that I was crazy taking all the pictures. Actually, I get that look from a lot of people, ha ha)

Dave and I went to a Christmas party at the Heglies.
Here is a picture of Dave and his closest friends: Mike, Craig and Troy

This is my mom's house..... the house that I grew up in on 7th street in Fargo.

Here are the Bunco gals. What a fun group!

Breakfast with Mom at Mom's Kitchen.

I went to a Christmas luncheon with my Mom and her friends.
After the luncheon we went over to Norma Flore (my mom's friend) and had tea.

Dave and I went to a Barlow Girl Christmas concert at church.
Later I was pleasantly surprised to hear that my nephew, Shaun Grover, was one of the prayer/staff people.
Jason (and Bekki) came home for a week to heal after knee surgery. It was wonderful having all the kids home for a meal together!
(Matt, Jenny, Bekki, Sierra, Jason, Dave, Jamie and Ryan)

Bekki and Jenny put on a fun family baby shower for Jamie.
In the picture:
Dula, Mom, Roz, Carrie, Jamie, Rachel, Illa, Sherry, Jenny, Mari, Lindsey, Lori, Sierra, Bekki and me.

My kind of people: computing from bed
We opened up presents twice. When Bekki and Jason were here, they opened the gifts that we bought for them and we opened up the gifts the gifts that they bought for us.
After church and a meal we opened up more presents on Christmas Eve.

Dave & I had Christmas dinner at Mom's house with Mom and Ron.

Christmas Day was a beautiful day. Even our house looked Christmasy!

Alexis, Sue, Connie, Aleta, Me, and Liz (Jodi is taking the pic)
The girls from work came over and we had a little Christmas party which included presents, wine, snacks and fun!
